Measuring, Sorting, Counting & Bar Graph

June 28th 2013

My objective was to make all buddies
  • To learn measurement , sort the objects as per length
  • To understand quantity and use this data and represent it on bar graph.
  • To count and write
I made 3 cards each having pictures of different size. I used satin ribbon, plastic bow tape, pipe cleaner, woolen thread and sponge sheet and cut all these as per the length of the pictures on card. In total 15 strings for each buddy. I gave them cards and strings. They took out a string at a time measure it and decide which string is as same as which picture. So they measured & sorted.

To understand quantity and bar graph, i gave them a set of few things and a graph sheet. Asked them to count and then explained on how to represent it on a graph. Using crayons they colored each bar.

Finally the counting work. I made card with a big circle and a small circle. made dots on these circle from 15 to 28. Buddies will have to count the dots and paste small cotton balls on each dot. As there is no numbering and its not a straight line it was challenging for them to finally count and write the correct number of cotton balls as they tend to loose the starting point for counting.

Toddlers learn Pink and Green

June 26th 2013

All toddler enjoyed working with the materials I used for improving fine motor skills. So I planned this session activities using the materials they like so they learn to recognize Green and Pink colors.

This session brought them back in rhythm :)
